KANSAS CITY ATTORNEY CHARLIE J. HARRIS, JR.
ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE MISSOURI BAR

SPRINGFIELD (September 26, 2007) . . . Charlie J. Harris, Jr. of Kansas City today was elected President of The Missouri Bar for 2007-2008. The election took place during the 128th Annual Meeting of The Missouri Bar, being held September 26-28 at the University Plaza Hotel in Springfield.

He succeeds C. Ronald Baird of Springfield as president of the 28,000-member organization.

Harris is a partner in the law firm of Berkowitz, Oliver, Williams, Shaw & Eisenbrandt, L.L.P. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, and has been a member of the Board of Governors of The Missouri Bar since 1999. He is also the first person of color to serve as president of the state bar.

Thomas M. Burke, a member of The Hullverson Law Firm in St. Louis, is the new President-Elect of The Missouri Bar. He received his legal education at St. Louis University, and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 1998.

The new Vice President of The Missouri Bar is H.A. “Skip” Walther, a partner in the Columbia law firm of Walther, Antel, Stamper & Fischer, P.C. He earned his law degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 1999.

Newly-elected representatives from the three districts of the Missouri Court of Appeals are: John S. Johnston of Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P. in Kansas City; W. Edward Reeves of the Caruthersville law firm of Ward & Reeves; and Eric J. Wulff of Burke, Wulff, Flach, Luber & Briscoe in St. Charles.

They, along with the officers and the Immediate Past President, will make up The Missouri Bar’s Executive Committee.
